As you stroll through the town's narrow alleyways, you'll see the imposing Stirling Castle towering above the skyline, a testament to the city's royal heritage.

The Church of the Holy Rude

A beautiful and historic church that dates back to the 15th century. This stunning church has witnessed many significant events in Scottish history, including coronations, weddings, and funerals of monarchs and other prominent figures. We look at the exterior of the church but don’t have time to go inside.

Cowane's Hospital

A historic almshouse that dates to the 17th century. Founded by John Cowane, a wealthy merchant, the hospital was built to provide accommodation and support for elderly men in need. The building itself is an impressive example of Scottish Renaissance architecture, with its elegant sandstone facade and intricate carvings.

One of the most fascinating features of Cowane's Hospital is its connection to Stirling's history. The hospital played a key role in the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, when it was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers. Later, during the Jacobite uprisings of the 18th century, the hospital was used as a barracks for soldiers.

Top of the Town Cemetery

The atmospheric Top of the Town Cemetery is a historic burial ground located in the heart of Stirling's old town. It is a peaceful and tranquil place, surrounded by stunning views of the surrounding countryside. A unique experience.

The cemetery was established in the 16th century and contains the graves of many notable figures from Stirling's history, including merchants, politicians, and soldiers.
