This Wallace Monument tour explores the National Wallace Monument, one of Scotland's most iconic attractions and a tribute to the legendary Scottish hero, Sir William Wallace.

Situated on the outskirts of the historic city of Stirling, this magnificent tower offers stunning views over the surrounding countryside and a unique insight into the life and legacy of one of Scotland's most famous figures.

William Wallace is one of Scotland's most iconic figures, renowned for his bravery and leadership in the fight for Scottish independence in the late 13th century. Wallace became an important figure in the Scottish Wars of Independence following the death of King Alexander III in 1286.

In 1296, the English King Edward I invaded Scotland, and Wallace, along with other Scottish nobles, rose in rebellion against the English occupation. In 1297, he led a Scottish army to victory over a much larger English force at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. This victory made Wallace a national hero and he was subsequently named Guardian of Scotland.

The monument was erected in 1869 and stands at an impressive 67 meters tall. Visitors can climb the winding staircase to the top of the tower, where they'll be rewarded with breath-taking views of the Stirling Bridge, the Ochil Hills, and the Forth Valley. Along the way, visitors can explore the various exhibits and displays that tell the story of Wallace's life and the role he played in Scotland's fight for independence.
